The foothills

Wild turkeys.  I got them to gobble for me.

My rainy campsite.  Fixed my tent so it didn't leak:)  Whew!
I found my Couch surfing spot without a problem.   I asked the right person and ended up being but a couple blocks away so I made it there before sunset.  My host was Servesh and his family.  They spoiled me with home made Indian food and kindness. Fresh pomegranate juice!! The food made me realize the crap that I have been eating on the road.  50% of the time I make my own food but I have been getting used to eating junk and I have started craving it so I look forward to being a little more settled for that reason.
I will miss the Giant sequoias due to too much snow to ride a bike thru.  There are minuses to a bike.....not many but snow is a damper.  I do recall seeing a beamer scoot by in banff with snow covered streets so I guess chains can go with motorcycles.  Well I don't have chains so it will have to be another trip.  I was reading about the General Sherman tree which is in this forest here.  It is the largest living thing in the world...volume wise and is estimated to be around 2000 years old!!  There are cross country ski trails through out the park.  I hope to come back to ski among the giants.   Been camped out just below the forest and was going to try to see how far I could get today but it started to hail around noon so I thought I best not press my luck.
Tomorrow I arrive at the Vipassana center.  As much as I have been enjoying the rhythms of the road being back in this cold wet weather  I look forward to meditating more and a little more structure.  Put me to work!  I know I am going to the right place.  :)
